Promoting the practice and Research of meditation through the study of brainwave patterns.
The Institute for Meditation Brainwave Research (IMBR) is a pioneering initiative dedicated to advancing the science of meditation through crowd-sourced citizen science. The institute provides a revolutionary app designed to assist serious meditators in achieving deeper states of meditation, while their brainwave data is contributed to academic research. This cutting-edge approach aims to decode the elusive brainwave patterns associated with deep meditation. IMBR's primary tool, the 'GoDeeper' app, stands as a unified platform intended to help meditators of all styles and levels of expertise. Unlike many meditation apps that adopt a one-size-fits-all methodology, GoDeeper is designed to collect data and provide feedback for 21 different styles of meditation and four levels of expertise. This data collection and feedback mechanism aims to allow each user to tailor their meditation experience to their personal style and skill level. IMBR is currently in the phase of seeking committed meditators with a regular practice to gain early access to the app and use it to track their meditation sessions. Participants are required to continue their regular meditation practice while wearing a Muse headband, and simply tap on their phone's screen to indicate when they are emerging from a deep moment. This innovative approach aims to solve the challenge faced by meditation scientists in obtaining enough brain data labeled by style, experience, and depth. IMBR is dedicated to refining neurofeedback protocols for more effective meditation by synthesizing academic research with their extensive dataset. The institute's affiliated data scientists utilize both classical statistical methods and AI deep learning to replicate and extend meditation studies. This blend of traditional and contemporary research methods positions IMBR at the forefront of meditation brainwave research.
